June 11, 2010 - PERFECT fit Health Formally Launches PTLINKED to Transform How Consumers Find and Communicate with Physical Therapists Online

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL — Minnesota-based PERFECT fit Health, LLC, formally announced today the launch of its new global online directory of Physical Therapists (www.PTLinked.com).     

“We believe that PTLINKED is a giant leap forward for consumers and physical therapists, “said Shawn Rankin, CEO of PERFECT fit Health, the developer of PTLINKED. “In forty-five states today, consumers can access the services of a physical therapist without a physician referral. But they do not have a convenient means of finding qualified PTs nearby. PTLINKED makes finding PTs with a suitable specialty as simple as entering a city, state, or zip code into a search box.

“A physical therapist listing in PTLINKED is also a powerful new tool for PT direct-to-patient marketing,” Mr. Rankin continued. “And a basic listing in PTLINKED is free to physical therapists.”

PTLINKED also helps realize the vision of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) for the profession. Called Vision 2020, it calls for increased professional recognition for PTs who will “become the practitioners of choice to whom consumers have direct access” for diagnosis and treatment of ailments related to movement, function and health.

At the recent APTA Combined Sections Meeting in San Diego, PERFECT fit Health provided a glimpse of this future by making available an advance viewing of PTLINKED to attendees and inviting them to register for a free listing. “We registered over 600 attendees during exhibit hours. That’s nearly one per minute, so we were very busy,” reported Mr. Rankin.

The time is right for linking patients to physical therapists online. According to Rankin, the Health Reform passed in 2010 will add millions of new covered persons from the ranks of the uninsured. These individuals will now have convenient, lower-cost direct access to physical therapists of their choice through PTLINKED.

To help PTs serve their patients better and offer more convenience, PERFECT fit Health is also launching a series of upgrades (PLUS, PRO, PLATINUM) to the PTLINKED directory listing. As an example, PTLINKED PRO offers premiere positioning in the directory; an expanded professional listing; a comprehensive online exercise prescription system (called PERFECT FIT PRO) that showcases over 1,000 exercise animations; and FREE patient access to receive exercise programs online.
