Glenn Fleisig, Ph. D.

 

 

Dr. Glenn Fleisig is a clinical advisor for PERFECT fit Health. Dr. Fleisig earned engineering degrees from MIT, Washington University, and UAB. While working as a research intern at the US Olympic Training Center, Dr. Fleisig met Dr. James Andrews. They shared an interest in understanding and preventing injuries in sports, and in 1987, Dr. Fleisig joined Dr. Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Fleisig is the research director of the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI). During the past two decades, ASMI has been a leader in sports medicine research. Dr. Fleisig has co-authored 90 scientific papers, ranging from baseball pitching biomechanics to knee ligament strength during rehabilitation exercises. He has also given hundreds of presentations at scientific conferences.

Dr. Fleisig is world-renowned for his work, especially in baseball. He has helped countless athletes from youth baseball to Major League Baseball. In addition to his scientific articles, Dr. Fleisig has had hundreds of television, newspaper, magazine, and online interviews sharing information on pitching biomechanics, pitch counts, and other safety issues. Dr. Fleisig serves as the pitching safety consultant for Little League Baseball, a member of USA Baseball’s Medical & Safety Committee, and an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
